Ward, 33, will join the Robins on an initial four-month deal but is expected to make his move permanent in January.
An experienced defender, he has made 481 career appearances and numbers Watford, QPR, Crystal Palace and Charlton among his former clubs.
Bostock, 20, rejoins on a youth loan until January having spent two months at the County Ground last season.
He has appeared four times as a substitute at his parent club and has previously spent time with Sheffield Wednesday, Hull and Brentford.
