Sunderland have signed Senegal international defender Kader Mangane on loan until the end of the season.

The 29-year old has joined the Black Cats from Saudi club Al Hilal.

The tall defender is Martin O'Neill's second January signing, following the arrival of France Under-21 international Alfred N'Diaye.

"Kader is a player who will add to the overall strength of our squad and give us options," said the Sunderland manager.

"He will improve competition for places and we are delighted to welcome him to the club."

Mangane played for Lens and Rennes in France's Ligue 1 before moving to Saudi Arabia last year.
