Ronnie Moore: Tranmere Rovers manager signs contract to 2015

Tranmere Rovers manager Ronnie Moore has agreed a new contract that will keep him at Prenton Park until 2015.

The 59-year-old has guided Rovers to the top of League One this season.

Tranmere have won 25 of their 48 games in all competitions during Moore's second managerial stint and are six points ahead of third-placed Brentford.

Moore returned in March 2012, having been in charge for three years between 2006 and 2009, and steered them clear of relegation trouble last season.

After replacing Les Parry, former Oldham and Rotherham boss Moore initially signed a deal until the end of the season, and was rewarded with a one-year contract after leading Tranmere to a final position of 12th in 2011-12.

Their rise to the top of the third tier this term has been something of a surprise, especially with a number of injuries to key players that has left Moore with a threadbare squad at times during the campaign.

Assistant manager John McMahon, goalkeeping coach Dave Timmins and physio Gregg Blundell have also signed similar deals.

Moore told BBC Radio Merseyside: "It's been unbelievable - the change in such a short time.

"It was all about survival when we came in because we were struggling. We got that right.

"This season, I don't think we've been out of the top two all season. If we have, it's only been for a short time. That's an unbelievable achievement by the players.

"It's through them that I have been given the opportunity to sign a new contract."

Speaking to the club website, chairman Peter Johnson added: "Ronnie did a fantastic job at the end of last season and has done an even better job this season.

"It has been a really exciting season so far and hopefully we're half way towards achieving something very special."
