Accrington Stanley: Robert Heys fails to shorten betting ban
- Published
Accrington managing director Robert Heys has failed in his appeal against the length of a 21-month ban from football for breaking betting rules.
In August, Heys admitted committing 735 breaches of the Football Association's rules over 10 years and was also fined £1,000.
Of the offending bets, 231 were on games involving Accrington and 37 were on the League Two side to lose.
Heys also confirmed he has now left his position at the Crown Ground.
In a statement on his website, external Heys said he still feels the "ban is excessive and an overly harsh punishment".
