Rotherham strengthened their position in the League One play-off places by making it 11 games unbeaten with victory at struggling Oldham.
The Millers went ahead when home keeper Mark Oxley could not hold Richard Smallwood's shot and Mark Bradley drilled in the ball from 10 yards.
Charlie MacDonald squandered a chance to level after being denied by the legs of keeper Adam Collin.
And Oldham were punished when Lee Frecklington scored a 25-yard drive.
