Bury have signed ex-Manchester City midfielder Kelvin Etuhu following his departure from Barnsley.

Etuhu, who has signed a two-year deal at Gigg Lane, played under Bury boss David Flitcroft during his two years with the Tykes.

The 26-year-old began his career with City and had loan spells at Rochdale, Leicester and Cardiff before a short stint with Portsmouth in 2012.

He made 51 appearances for Barnsley without scoring a goal.

Etuhu was one of 14 players released by the club last month following their relegation from the Championship to League One.
