Northampton have signed full-backs Daniel Alfei on a season-long loan from Swansea and Evan Horwood on a two-year deal after his release by Tranmere.

Horwood, 28, played eight times for the Cobblers during a loan spell at the end of last season, helping Chris Wilder's side avoid relegation from League Two.

Wales Under-21 international Alfei played 15 times while on loan at Portsmouth last season.

The 22-year-old has four senior appearances for the Swans.

Horwood made 12 league starts for Tranmere after joining them last summer from Hartlepool, following spells at Gretna and Carlisle.

"I had an eye on Evan after his successful loan spell. I thought he was outstanding. Going forward he is a great option," Wilder told BBC Radio Northampton.

"Danny is similar. We wanted two attacking full-backs and both of those boys get forward and want to join in.

"We're 99% there in terms of the players we've got. We've spoken about a big number nine but if that doesn't happen we'll go with what we've got."
