Carlisle United slide worries joint-caretaker Tony Caig

Joint-caretaker boss Tony Caig admitted his concern over Carlisle United's League Two position but remains confident the situation is retrievable.

The Cumbrians are without a league win in 14 games from April 2014, bottom of the table, and the only club in the division yet to win.

Caig and captain Paul Thirlwell are in caretaker charge after the departure of Graham Kavanagh this month.

"We've got enough to be higher up the league," Caig told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"I can't predict the future and I don't know what's going to happen long term. It's worrying, we're bottom of the league that's plain to see.

"I'm not saying we're in a false position because we're not, and we have to get better."

West Ham assistant boss Neil McDonald has been linked with a return to Carlisle, with the managerial vacancy still yet to be filled at Brunton Park.

"There's going to be a new manager coming in through the door, I imagine they will want to make their own signings.

"That on top of the squad that's here with injuries permitting and players back - it would be a healthy squad."
