Ronny Deila has confirmed Celtic's intention to appeal against Aleksandar Tonev's seven-match suspension.

The on-loan Aston Villa winger was found guilty of using insulting language of a racist nature against Aberdeen full-back Shay Logan.

But Celtic did not lodge appeal documents to the Scottish FA in time to allow Tonev to face Inverness.

"I'm very sorry for him and we are going to support him," manager Deila said after the 1-0 victory.

"It's word against word and I believe him.

"He is very, very depressed. He believes in his innocence and it's very hard on him.

"We are supporting him because this is not right."
