Norwich City sack first-team coach Mark Robson

Norwich City have sacked first-team coach Mark Robson following Saturday's 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest.

The Canaries have not given a reason for the 45-year-old's departure.

But the move comes with the Canaries only 10th in the Championship and with just one in win in eight games.

Former Charlton midfielder Robson was promoted from youth coach when Neil Adams became manager in April, a month before Norwich were relegated from the Premier League.

Adams is under huge pressure at Carrow Road to oversee an immediate return to the top flight, but his side have slumped after leading the Championship in mid-October.

A brief statement from Norwich read: "The club would like to thank Mark for his work on behalf of Norwich City and wish him well for the future.

"Coach Gary Holt will continue to assist manager Neil Adams and there will be no further comment from the club at this time."

City conceded twice in the final five minutes to lose 2-1 to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, a result which came five days after a 4-0 hammering at Middlesbrough.

Speaking after the Forest result, but before Robson's departure, midfielder Gary O'Neil admitted the form was unacceptable.

"To concede from a punt down the pitch and from our own corner - you wouldn't get away with that in the youth team," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"To think you're going to get promoted to the Premier League doing it, you've got no chance. We need to sort it out."
