Birmingham City have confirmed that former striker Nikola Zigic is training with the club this week.

The 34-year-old Serbia international has been without a club since leaving at the end of last season after four years at St Andrew's.

There is currently no formal agreement between club and player beyond this week, but BBC WM 95.6 understands the club are open-minded about a contract.

He went on to score a total of 33 league goals for the Blues over four seasons.

In 2013, then Birmingham manager Lee Clark criticised Zigic for a lack of effort in training and dropped him from the team.

Zigic eventually returned to the first-team squad and netted eight league goals last season.

He has scored 20 goals in 57 appearances for Serbia, and captained his country in 2011.
