Joel Byrom joins Northampton after contract ended at Preston

Byrom counts Accrington, Northwich, Stevenage and Oldham amongst his former clubs

Northampton Town have signed midfielder Joel Byrom on a contract until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old, who had been on loan at Sixfields, has had his contract at Preston North End terminated.

In 23 appearances with the Cobblers, Byrom has scored once - against Cheltenham.

The signing follows the addition of Jason Taylor from Cheltenham and the exits of Ricky Ravenhill, Kelvin Langmead and Alex Nicholls.
