Rotherham United have signed Derby County striker Conor Sammon on loan until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old was on a season-long loan at Ipswich Town but the Portman Road side have allowed the deal to be cut short.

The Republic of Ireland international scored one goal in 20 appearances for Mick McCarthy's side.

He could make his debut for the Millers in Saturday's home match against Championship leaders Bournemouth.

Speaking on Wednesday, Ipswich boss McCarthy said: "We've got him for 12 months but it's completely unfair if he's not going to play. I'm depriving him of playing, so he's moved on."
