Stevenage have signed midfielder David McAllister following his release by League Two rivals Shrewsbury Town.

The 26-year-old joined Boro on loan in October and played 14 times before the deal expired earlier this month, helping to lift Graham Westley's side from 19th to seventh in League Two.

McAllister was signed by Graham Turner for Shrewsbury from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee in January 2013.

The length of his deal at Stevenage has not been revealed by the club.

McAllister is now expected to make an instant return to the Meadow this Saturday when Shrewsbury host Stevenage (24 January, 15:00 GMT).
