Reading have signed Slovenian left-back Jure Travner until the end of the season after he was cleared to join the club from Azerbaijan's FC Baku.

The 29-year-old has been training with the Royals for several weeks but had to wait for international clearance.

His previous clubs include St Mirren,, external for whom he made 42 appearances.

"Jure is an experienced player who has shown enough to suggest he can help between now and the end of the season," Reading manager Steve Clarke said.

"Due to contractual difficulties at his previous club he didn't play as often as he would have liked and, after a protracted transfer, he now has a chance to show us if he can earn an extended deal here at Reading FC."

The former Slovenia Under-21 international also had a spell with Watford earlier in his career, although he did not play a first-team game for the Hornets.

Reading are 18th in the Championship table, seven points above the relegation zone.
