AC Milan have signed Italy defender Gabriel Paletta from Serie A rivals Parma.

The 28-year-old Argentina-born player has signed a three-year deal and joins for an undisclosed fee.

Paletta, who made seven appearances for Liverpool in 2006/07, represented Italy at the 2014 World Cup, starting the 2-1 group victory over England.

He is the sixth signing of the January transfer window by Milan, who are eighth in the Serie A table.

Paletta is the third defender to join Filippo Inzaghi's side, along with Salvatore Bocchetti from Russian club Spartak Moscow, and Luca Antonelli, who joined from Genoa.

Spanish midfielder Suso joined from Premier League side Liverpool.

Two strikers have also moved to the San Siro on loan. Alessio Cerci arrived from Spanish champions Atletico Madrid and Mattia Destro joined from Italian rivals Roma.
