Lyle Taylor has returned to Partick Thistle on loan from Scunthorpe until the end of the current season.

The 24-year-old striker was a popular figure last season at Firhill, where he spent the second half of the campaign on loan from Sheffield United.

His seven goals in 20 appearances helped the Jags stay in the Premiership.

The Blades signed Taylor from Falkirk in July 2013, having been attracted by the Englishman's scoring rate.

But he was used sparingly in Sheffield and moved to Thistle on loan last January.

The Jags had hoped to keep Taylor in Glasgow at the end of his loan spell but he returned south to sign for Scunthorpe and has scored four goals in 25 appearances for them this season.

While Taylor arrives, Nathan Eccleston has left Thistle after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

English striker Eccleston started one game for the club and made 10 appearances as a substitute.
