Barnsley have signed Blackburn Rovers midfielder John O'Sullivan on a one-month loan deal.

O'Sullivan, 21, nearly joined the Tykes in January before Rovers blocked the move because of their transfer embargo.

He scored four goals in 13 games for Accrington Stanley earlier this season.

Meanwhile, BBC Radio Sheffield understands ex-Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll and former Inverness boss Terry Butcher are not in the running to take over at Oakwell.

The Tykes, who have allowed loan forward Alex Kiwomya to return to Chelsea, sacked boss Danny Wilson last week and are currently under the caretaker charge of coaches Mark Burton and Paul Heckingbottom.

It is understood former Barnsley midfielder Craig Hignett and ex-Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws have both expressed an interest in the position.
