Wrexham hold a slender advantage after the first leg of their FA Trophy semi-final with Torquay United.
Andy Coughlin made a crucial save to deny Ryan Bowman before Wrexham took control.
The home side took the lead in spectacular fashion when Joe Clarke fired home an unstoppable 20-yard effort.
Louis Moult scored a second before Bowman bundled home to give the visitors hope ahead of the second leg.
The Conference sides meet in the second leg at Plainmoor on Saturday, 28 February.
The match passed a late pitch inspection after heavy rain left parts of the Racecourse pitch waterlogged.
Wrexham manager Kevin Wilkin told BBC Radio Wales:
"I'm pleased with the win but disappointed that it's not by a greater margin. The tie could have been over today.
"We need to go to Torquay next week and if we play as well as we have today then there's no reason to think we can't see the job through. "heavy rain had left parts of the Racecourse pitch waterlogged.
