Former Juventus defender Marco Motta has joined Championship side Watford, subject to international clearance.

The 28-year-old, capped once by Italy, was released by the Serie A leaders earlier this month after four and a half years with the Turin side.

He previously played for Udinese, the Italian top-flight side owned by the Pozzo family which also owns Watford.

The ex-Roma and Atalanta man also had loan spells with Catania, Bologna and Genoa during his time with Juve.

Motta, who featured for Italy at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, has Champions League experience with Udinese and Roma, and has also featured in the Europa league with Juventus.
