Reading 3-0 Bradford: Arrest for alleged abuse of Garath McCleary

A man has been arrested for the alleged racial abuse of Reading winger Garath McCleary during their 3-0 FA Cup quarter-final win over Bradford.

The winger, 27, created the opener and scored their second but complained to officials before half-time.

The Jamaica international was in the process of taking a corner when the situation arose in front of the Bradford fans at the Madejski Stadium.

Police confirmed a 36-year-old man from Bradford was arrested.

He has been bailed until 16 April pending further inquiries.

McCleary was at the heart of Reading's good work as they raced into a two-goal lead inside 10 minutes to set the foundation for a win which earns them a Wembley semi-final with Arsenal.

But it was in the run up to half-time with the home side two goals to the good that he was in conversation with an assistant referee after appearing to be frustrated by comments made by supporters behind the goal.

The former Nottingham Forest player took the corner and appeared to be reassured by the official he had spoken to.

After the game, Reading manager Steve Clarke said he was aware his player was "upset by something".
