Jim Rodwell: Notts County chief executive joins Scunthorpe United

Scunthorpe United have appointed Jim Rodwell as their chief executive after he resigned from the same role at Notts County.

The Iron are 17th in League One, one point and two places ahead of Notts.

Rodwell, a former defender for Rushden and Diamonds and Boston United, was appointed chief executive at Meadow Lane in February 2010.

He will work under Iron chairman Peter Swann, who took over from Steve Wharton in May 2013.

"Notts County have been an integral part of my life for the past five years, so it was always going to be a difficult decision to leave," Rodwell told the club website.

"However, having spoken to Scunthorpe chairman Peter Swann and co-director Karin Swann, I know that they are a club very much on the up and the opportunity to realise the construction of a new state-of-the-art stadium and training complex is incredibly exciting and something that really persuaded me to make the move.

"There is so much for Scunthorpe, as a town, to be excited about, with the new developments that Peter Swann is planning.

"But at the heart of it will be a football club that I honestly believe will be challenging at the top of the Championship and hopefully beyond in years to come."
