Last season's beaten finalists Everton Ladies knocked Bristol Academy out of the FA Women's Cup after extra-time.

With the game set to go to penalties, Gabby George broke free to poke a winner and set up a quarter-final meeting with Charlton.

The Vixens, who were hammered 5-0 by Frankfurt in the Champions League on Saturday, took the lead after the break through Nikki Watts' penalty.

Lucy Whipp equalised for the hosts to send the tie to extra-time.

Everton, relegated to Women's Super League Two last season, started their league campaign with victory over Aston Villa.

Bristol Academy travel to Germany for the second leg of their Champions League tie on Sunday before opening their Women's Super League campaign against Chelsea next Thursday.
