Barnsley have signed Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith on a one-month loan deal.

The 19-year-old England Under-20 international could make his debut for the Tykes against League One leaders Bristol City on Saturday.

Boss Lee Johnson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "Adam Davies has got a slight abductor tear and we can't risk it getting worse.

"Joe has a really good reputation and this is a good chance for him."

Wildsmith's arrival will ease Barnsley's goalkeeping crisis with Ross Turnbill out for the season after back surgery and Christian Dibble on international duty with Wales, in addition to Davies' fitness worry.
