Wrexham have advertised the vacant first team manager's position as they step up their search for Kevin Wilkin's successor.

Wilkin was sacked a day after Wrexham lost to North Ferriby United on penalties in the FA Trophy Final,

The former Nuneaton boss had been in charge of the Conference club for a year after succeeding Andy Morrell.

The Dragons have invited interested applicants to send their CVs to the club.

"This role will provide a fantastic opportunity to work within a vibrant club with excellent facilities both at the Glyndwr University Racecourse Stadium and Colliers Park training ground," Wrexham said on their official website.

First-team coach Carl Darlington and goalkeeping coach Michael Oakes were in charge as the Dragons drew 1-1 with Dover on Tuesday.

But Darlington has said he does not want to succeed Wilkin as the club's permanent manager.

Wrexham's football operations chief Barry Horne said the club had already received a number of applications before they had advertised the role.

"The fans have got people they would like to see and the media like to generate some interest to keep the story rolling along," Horne said.

"It's great people are talking about it. The number of applicants we've already had indicates again how big the club is and where the club should be."
