Cardiff City: Russell Slade says he has assurances over his future

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade says he has been assured by the club's board that he is the right man to be in charge next season.

Slade saw his side slump to the worst home defeat of his reign, going down 3-0 against Bolton.

After the match he was asked if he had been given assurances he would in charge next season.

"Yeah I have, there's a lot of confidence in what we are trying to do," he said.

"We are trying to build something here, but today is a bad day at the office."

Cardiff remain 13th in the Championship, on 52 points, with five matches of the season to go.

A chorus of boos rang out from some sections of the home supporters at the Cardiff City Stadium when the final whistle was blown in the defeat against Bolton.

Some fans directed chants of: "You don't know what you're doing" at Slade following Bolton's third goal.

One fan was pictured holding a "Slade Out" sign.

"Obviously you want your fans to be behind the football club," said Slade, adding "That's important. You want everybody pulling in the right direction.

"That's something I can't control. People are entitled to their own opinion and that's the way it is and sometimes this job is a difficult one when things don't go well."

Cardiff had won two and drawn two of their previous four matches.

Slade says despite Monday's loss Cardiff are going in the right direction.

"It's a process. It's not all going to happen and I did say there would be ups and downs.

"I did say we were improving and we are improving but today is a bitter disappointment."
