Morecambe midfielder Stewart Drummond has announced he will retire at the end of the season aged 39.
Drummond, who took on a coaching role this season, came through the youth system with the Shrimps and spent 10 years at the club in the Conference.
Two-year spells at Chester and Shrewsbury followed, before he returned to Morecambe, external for £15,000 in 2008.
"I still feel fit enough and would have loved to have played another year," said Drummond.
"But I want to play every game and get frustrated when I'm not involved and I'm sure this is the best decision."
Drummond, who has scored 68 times in his 509 appearances for Morecambe, will take on a role as the club's academy director.
