Tyrone Mings to join Bournemouth from Ipswich Town

Bournemouth are set to sign Ipswich Town left-back Tyrone Mings for a reported £8m.

The 22-year-old, who cost Ipswich £10,000 from non-league Chippenham Town in 2012, will move to Eddie Howe's Premier League newcomers, BBC Radio Suffolk has learned.

The Cherries' current record signing is Callum Wilson, who joined for £3m.

Mings made 44 appearances last year for Ipswich, who were beaten in the Championship play-off semi-finals.

He was released by Southampton as a 16-year-old and almost quit football six months before his Ipswich move to concentrate on his career as a mortgage advisor.

Ipswich turned down a bid from Crystal Palace for Mings last summer, while Arsenal have also been watching the defender.

In 2013, he gave tickets to a fan who said he was "skint" on Twitter and helped feed homeless shelter at a shelter on Christmas Day.

Last summer bought new kits for fans who had his name on the back of their jersey before he changed from number 15 to three.

And in April this year, Mings paid off his mother's debts.
