St Patrick's of Dungannon into MacRory Cup final

St Patrick's Dungannon qualified for their first MacRory Cup final since 2011 with a convincing 3-11 to 1-10 win over St Paul's Bessbrook.

Dungannon got off to a dream start with a Daniel Kerr goal after 33 seconds, but Besssbrook levelled with a Shea Hoey goal in the eighth minute.

Cormac O'Hagan netting from a 10th minute penalty to restore the Academy's three points lead.

Ryan Coleman grabbed their third goal on 23 minutes.

The Dungannon boys had two further strikes ruled out for square ball infringements.

At half-time, Dungannon held a commanding 3-8 to 1-3 lead, but the wind-assisted south Armagh lads set about playing themselves back in contention with scores from Shea Hoey, Miceal McNamee and Caolan McConville.

Ryan Coleman hit a couple of Dungannon points on the breakaway, and their defence resisted sternly as St Paul's drove forward, determined not to concede a goal.

Bessbrook will reflect on a tally of 11 second half wides as the game slipped away from them.

Dungannon managed just three points in the second half, but the damage had been done in the opening period and they went through to the St Patrick's Day decider.
