Hull FC have signed Australian full-back Wade McKinnon from Wests Tigers on a free transfer - on a three-year deal.

Sydney-born McKinnon, 30, had been originally contracted to stay with Wests until the end of the 2012 season.

But the ex-South Sydney, Parramatta and New Zealand Warriors man has been released from his final year, allowing him to move to the KC Stadium for 2012.

Hull are also now understood to have agreed terms with their other target - young Leigh scrum-half Jamie Ellis.

"Both players we have been linked with is accurate speculation," Hull coach Richard Agar told BBC Radio Humberside. "But we don't want to jump the gun and announce things that are not rubber-stamped."

The signing of McKinnon casts doubt over the future of his fellow Aussie Cameron Phelps, who joined the club on a short-term contract earlier this year.

But McKinnon told Hull's club website: "I'm really excited about the move.

"Talking to the coach Richard Agar and getting an understanding for what he wants and where the club wants to go is very good and I am very happy with that.

"Hull are a big club with big ambitions and that is something I want to be part of. I play with belief and I can see the club believes they can realise those ambitions."
