Kevin Penny: Warrington Wolves re-sign winger

Warrington have agreed to re-sign winger Kevin Penny from Swinton on a 12-month contract for next season.

The 26-year-old Wolves academy product, who left for Wakefield in 2010, has spent the last two seasons with Swinton Lions in the Championship.

"It's not fully sunk in yet," said Penny, whose deal included an option for a further two years.

"Since I last played at Warrington I've learnt a lot about rugby and life itself, which will benefit me a lot."

Penny's form for Warrington's partner club Swinton led to Wire head coach Tony Smith giving him another chance at the top level.

Smith, who called Penny into the national squad while he was in charge of Great Britain in 2007, said: "We've been monitoring him for the last couple of years and watched his progress at Swinton. He's turned into a terrific player.

"He's always had very good attributes but he's now learned how to put these into place on a more regular basis, which was the key for Kevin. He needed to learn more about rugby league in order to apply them."
