Castleford's Luke Gale worth England call - Luke Robinson

Castleford half-back Luke Gale has played his way into England contention, says Huddersfield playmaker Luke Robinson.

Former Rhinos academy player Gale, 27, scored two tries and created two as the Tigers beat Leeds last Thursday.

England play New Zealand in three Tests this November, with a warm-up against France preceding the series.

"At least he should be recognised within the squad," Robinson told the BBC Super League Show.

"Even if he doesn't get in the side."

Since leaving relegated Bradford Bulls last season, Gale has forged a regular place in the Tigers side and filled the gap left by loanee Marc Sneyd's return to Salford and subsequent move to Hull FC last winter.

"I think he's playing some of the best rugby he's ever played," Robinson added.

"In the Leeds game he was scoring tries and setting them up. He's probably been the first name on the team-sheet this year."

Competition for places at international level has increased in the England set up ahead of the autumn fixtures against the Kiwis.

Among the players vying for the spots are regulars Gareth Widdop and Matty Smith, plus those on the fringes such as Smith's Wigan team-mate George Williams, Catalans-bound Richie Myler and Warrington utility back Stefan Ratchford.

Danny Brough of Huddersfield is English-qualified but has aligned himself with Scotland after he was left out of several squads in the build-up to the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
