Scarlets ended their pre-season schedule with a 23-17 friendly win over London Welsh at Parc y Scarlets.

But the main talking point was a suspected broken cheekbone suffered by Welsh's new signing Gavin Henson.

The Wales back, starting at fly-half, was replaced after 30 minutes and taken immediately for an X-ray.

"It was a late shoulder barge into his face. Gav tried to play on but it was advisable he went for an X-ray," said London Welsh coach Lyn Jones.

"I'm waiting for a little bit of feedback before we say any more than that. It's not great but perhaps it's just bruising, we'll see."

An injury-time try from Scott Williams gave Scarlets the victory, with the home side's other two tries coming from Andy Fenby.

Lee Beach and Jonah Holmes crossed for the visitors, who begin life in the Aviva Premiership against Leicester Tigers on 2 September.

Scarlets open their Rabodirect Pro12 League campaing a day earlier at home to Leinster.
