Scarlets: Gareth Davies out for 12 weeks with knee injury
- Published
Scarlets scrum-half Gareth Davies is out of contention for Wales' autumn internationals with a knee injury.
Davies was injured in Scarlets' 26-13 Pro12 win over Newport Gwent Dragons on Sunday, 5 October, and will be out for 12 weeks.
The 24-year-old is also likely to miss four rounds of European Rugby Championship.
"He's very disappointed obviously and we're disappointed for him," said Scarlets coach Wayne Pivac.
"He's out for a period of time now, it could be up to 12 weeks and there's not a lot you can do about that other than get in there and rehab and do everything that you can to get right as quick as you can,
"We wish him a speedy recovery."

Davies made his international debut as a replacement for veteran Mike Phillips on their June tour to South Africa.
Rhys Webb and Davies were seen as serious contenders for the Wales number nine shirt, along with the 87-times capped Phillips.
The 25-year-old Webb was selected for Wales ahead of Phillips for the 2014 Six Nations matches against France and England.

"It's a massive blow. He's been great over the last year or so and the Scarlets will miss him because I think he's been the form player over the last season. "Gareth will be bitterly disappointed having had a good summer tour and he would have been hoping to nudge his way into the squad. "The timing isn't great for him. The autumn internationals will be a big step in terms of cementing a place in the squad for the World Cup." |
However, he missed the summer tour after he was injured during the 29-18 defeat at Twickenham, where England won the Triple Crown.
Webb had emerged as the main contender to Phillips after starring for Pro 12 leaders Ospreys in their unbeaten start to the season.
Davies has also made an impressive start to the Pro12 campaign, scoring four tries in four games for the Scarlets.
Wales are already without Scarlets hooker Ken Owens (neck) for their November games against Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and South Africa.
