Scarlets have signed Australian-born Welsh qualified loose-head prop Dylan Evans ahead of the 2015-16 season.

Evans, 26, who qualifies for Wales through his father, has represented Newcastle and NSW Country and spent a summer with Melbourne Rebels.

He was part of the Combined NSW-Queensland Country side which faced the British & Irish Lions in 2013.

"I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to join a great club like the Scarlets," said Evans.

Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac said the recruitment of Evans would strengthen the squad likely to be affected by World Cup call-ups.

"Dylan has been in and around Super level squads which will ensure he brings an exciting and experienced dimension to our front row," Pivac said.

"He's a good guy and has spent some time with us here at Parc y Scarlets whilst he was back visiting family.

"He's Welsh qualified and fits the profile of player we're looking for on and off the field."
