Aljaz Bedene: New British number two qualifies for Casablanca Open

Bedene is playing as a Briton for the first time this week

New British number two Aljaz Bedene has qualified for the Casablanca ATP event after becoming a UK citizen last week.

The Slovenia-born 25-year-old beat Argentina's Pedro Cachin, ranked 247th, 6-2 6-2 to secure a place in the main draw of the clay-court tournament.

Bedene was the top seed in qualifying with a world ranking of 83, although he slipped to 99th on Monday.

He will take on Argentina's world number 94, Maximo Gonzalez, in round one of the main draw.
