US Open qualifying: Kyle Edmund, Jo Konta, Naomi Broady progress

Kyle Edmund made the first round of this year's Australian Open and French Open

Britons Kyle Edmund, Jo Konta and Naomi Broady have made it through the first round of qualifying at the US Open in New York.

Edmund, 20, has been seeded sixth in qualifying and beat Canada's Peter Polansky 6-3 6-4 to move within two victories of the main draw.

Konta, 24, who is seeded third, saw off Hungary's Reka-Luca Jani 7-5 6-4 at Flushing Meadows.

British number three Broady, 25, beat Czech Barbora Krejcikova 3-6 6-4 7-6.
