World Championships 2015: Bundy-Davies hails bronze medal

Seren Bundy-Davies was delighted after becoming only the second Welsh female to win a World Championships medal.

The 20-year-old anchored the Great Britain women's 4x400m relay team to bronze in Beijing.

Christine Ohuruogu, Anyika Onuora and Eilidh Child ensured Bundy-Davies received the baton in third and she produced an excellent finish to secure bronze behind Jamaica and USA.

"It was really nice to bring them home like that," the medical student said.

"But I had no idea what was going on behind me, so I just wanted to hold it together.

"They'd done all the hard work and it was really surreal because I watched them win a medal two years ago and I'm so happy to be here now, running with the girls and winning a world medal.

"I couldn't ask for more."

Bundy-Davies clocked 50.9 seconds over the final leg to secure her fifth medal at major championships in 2015.

Only Wales' middle distance star Hayley Tullett has previously won a medal at a World Championships with a bronze in the 1500m in Paris in 2003.

It caps a superb year for Bundy-Davies, who won two bronze medals at the European Indoor Championships in Prague in March in the 400m and 4x400m relay, bronze at the IAAF World Relays in May and a European U23 Championships relay gold in July.
