Sochi 2014: McCorkell produces solid routine in team event
- Published
Jenna McCorkell achieved a season best score of 50.09 points after producing a solid routine in the short programme of the team figure skating competition at the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
The result helped the Coleraine figure skater banish the memory of falling during the short programme at the Vancouver Olympic Games four years ago.
The 11-time British champion did not then get to perform her free skate.
McCorkell will take part in the individual event in Russia next week.
That competition will take place on Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 February and the 27-year-old hopes to improve on her 29th place at the last Winter Games.
McCorkell warmed up for the Olympics by finishing 24th in the European Championships in Budapest last month.
She plans to retire from competitive skating after this season.
