Shauna Coxsey has secured a qualification spot for Great Britain in the inaugural climbing event at next summer's Olympic Games.

The 26-year-old finished first in the combined qualification round at the Climbing World Championships to guarantee a quota spot for GB in Tokyo.

Coxsey won bronze in the women's bouldering at the World Championships, in Hachioji, Japan, last week.

"It has been such a whirlwind and it is still not over," she told BBC Radio 2.

Japan has four athletes who have qualified for the combined final but can only take two Olympic spots, meaning the athletes from other countries in the final have guaranteed an Olympic place for their nation.
