Newtonmore upset the odds to win the Camanachd Cup for the 35th time with their first victory over Kingussie since 2018 in a 3-2 triumph.

It was Kingussie who started the brighter but 55-year-old goalkeeper Kenny Ross made a couple of smart stops to keep the score level.

The game was a little stop-start but sparked into life with Iain Robinson opened the scoring for More, smashing the ball low into the net after a cross from Joe Coyle.

Ross again was called on to keep Newtonmore in the lead, and early in the 2nd half man-of-the-match Robinson hammered home his second goal to put his side 2-0 ahead.

Kingussie won all four major shinty honours in 2024, but this one appeared beyond them when 16-year-old Coyle swerved by a couple of defenders and slotted home.

Not bad from the winger who in his spare time is on the books at Ross County.

Newtonmore haven't lost a Camanachd Cup final since 1997 and they looked in total command, but Ryan Borthwick gave Kingussie a glimmer of hope as he pulled one back with 15 minutes to play.

More nerves were jangling when when Craig Ritchie turned into his own net, to give the Kings fans hope of a miraculous comeback.

But it wasn't to be and the final whistle was greeted with an explosion of joy from those in blue and white.
