Smith 'out of gas' as he misses out on Bronze

Three-time Paralympic boccia champion David Smith has missed out on bronze in the Boccia Men’s Individual BC1.
Swansea-based Smith won the first end and secured three points against Indonesia’s Syafa Muhamad but ultimately lost 5-3.
“I wasn’t really thinking about the medals, just playing as well as I could. I gave myself the best possible chance, I just ran out of gas,” Smith said.
“I knew I would lose at some point, it’s just unfortunate it happened in a semi-final I should have won.
“Playing a bronze medal match against my biggest rival, it could have gone either way. Unfortunately, the floor suited him.”
Smith will be back in action in the Mixed Team BC1/BC2 event on Tuesday.
