The Tulloch Camanachd Cup final will be a Badenoch derby following Newtonmore's 4-1 defeat of Oban Camanachd in the second semi-final in Fort William.

Newtonmore will now meet holders and local rivals Kingussie on 20 September in Inverness for shinty's biggest honour.

In the Mowi Premiership, Lovat sank further into danger when they succumbed 5-0 to fellow relegation candidates Kyles at Tighnabruich, while Skye and Kinlochshiel fought out a 2-2 draw in the west coast derby.

Meanwhile, Lochaber clinched the National Division title and booked a return to the top flight with a resounding 8-1 home victory over Strathglass.

Matthew Sloss - an Oban player last season - put Newtonmore ahead in the opening minute, but Daniel MacVicar soon equalised.

Soon after the restart, Iain Robinson put Newtonmore back in front and both he and Sloss went on to complete doubles.

Roddy MacDonald scored twice in a minute for Kyles to make it 2-0 at half time. Scott MacDonald and Ethan Kerr found the net within seconds of each other to double the score in advance of Kerr's second.

With local rivals Beauly already confirmed for the drop, Lovat in the second relegation place are now two points adrift of Kyles, opening up the prospect of Lovat-Beauly derbies continuing next season - but in the National Division.

Skye took a slender half-time lead in Portree through Dan MacDonald before Keith MacRae and Zander MacRae edged Sheil ahead shortly after the hour.

Macdonald's second gave Skye a share of the points.

An early hat-trick in just three minutes from Ben Delaney put Lochaber in immediate charge.

There were two more from Duncan MacKinnon before Delaney scored his fourth and Stuart Callison made it 7-0 at half time.

Colin Birnie got one back for Strathglass midway through the second half in advance of Callison completing his double.

The tense three-way race for the other promotion place continued when Bute defeated fellow contenders Col Glen 2-1 and Glasgow Mid Argyll's prospects took a knock when they lost 4-2 to Inveraray.

The reserve teams of Fort William, 5-1 winners over Newtonmore, and Kinlochshiel, who edged Glenurquhart 3-2, will contest the HIS Sutherland Cup final for shinty's reserve title.
