Luton Town chief executive Gary Sweet has been speaking to BBC Three Counties Radio about points deductions in the Premier League this season.

Everton are appealing a 10-point deduction, while both the Toffees and Nottingham Forest face hearings for alleged financial breaches.

The situation drastically impacts the relegation picture, which Luton are currently featuring in.

Sweet told the Luton in the Prem podcast: "We had a 30-point deduction in one season, we had a point deduction from the FA that they have never awarded to anyone else. I think I should be sitting here saying I don't really care about anyone else, as there wasn't an awful lot of sympathy for us back then .

"First of all, if you break the rules then you deserve a punishment.

"There needs to a lot happen to reshape the rules so that punishments happen, are quicker and swifter. Almost in real time.

"We are part of that now as we have a 5% share in the Premier League and we are letting our voice be heard in this area too. We hope to help shape that.

"I would like to get to a point in the game where no points are deducted because rules are so tight and that people have to operate within them. At the minute, ultimately they're not.

"All I will say is, in our instance, we've got a track record where fans got involved and made a difference. So I would urge other fans to get involved if they're not happy with their ownership."
