Brian Flanagan has been selected by the Kildare management committee to be the county's next manager.

The former Lilywhites defender is expected to be confirmed in the position at September's county board meeting.

Flanagan, who is poised to replace Glenn Ryan, led Kildare to the All-Ireland U20s title last year.

His management ticket includes 2002 Armagh All-Ireland winner Aidan O'Rourke.

The high performance manager at Queen's Sport managed Armagh minors to the All-Ireland final this year.
