Ireland international Kathryn Dane will become the first woman from Ulster to play for the the Barbarians when they play against South Africa in Cape Town on Saturday.

The northern province's skipper has recently returned to the game after suffering a brain haemorrhage in 2022.

The scrum-half started all three of her side's games so far in the ongoing Women's Interprovincial Championship but will now travel with the famous invitational side for a fixture that will act as the curtain raiser to the Rugby Championship contest between the Springboks and All Blacks.

Former Ireland captain Claire Molloy, retired from international rugby after winning 74 gaps for her country, will also feature in the game at the DHL Stadium.
