Newcastle are set to make a second bid for Watford's Joao Pedro after the Hornets rejected one for around £20m last week.

Eddie Howe's side are in the hunt for another forward with the 20-year-old Brazilian among their targets.

But it is believed that it could take an offer of up to £30m to tempt Watford, who have already sold forward Emmanuel Dennis to Nottingham Forest for £20m this summer.

A move to Aston Villa for fellow Hornets forward Ismaila Sarr has also fallen through but it's unlikely the Championship side, who are second in the table, will let all three leave.

Newcastle have already missed out on former Stade de Reims striker Hugo Ekitike, who joined Paris St-Germain on loan.

Callum Wilson has scored twice this season for the Magpies, but was injured for the second half of last season.
