Scotstown have won an eighth Monaghan Senior Football Championship title in 10 years with a 1-10 to 0-8 win over Clontibret.
Jack McCarron scored the only goal of the game on 39 minutes when he overturned Clontibret in their own defence and, with goalkeeper Darren McDonnell off his line, slotted into an empty net from about 30 yards out.
The first half was tit-for-tat with Scotstown leading by 0-5 to 0-4 at the break. However, after McCarron’s goal, they never looked like losing.
Rory Beggan converted twice from dead balls for the victors, Conor McCarthy got in on the act with one from play and Jack McDevitt nailed the score of the game off the outside of his boot.
Clontibret benefited from a wealth of experience with 41-year-old Vinny Corey, 40-year-old Dessie Mone and 36-year-old Conor McManus amongst their ranks, but they were unable to pull off the upset.
The Fermanagh Senior Football championship will go to a replay after Enniskillen Gaels and Erne Gaels Belleek played out a 0-8 to 0-8 draw at Brewster Park.

Enniskillen Gaels and Erne Gaels will have to do it all over again next weekend as the Fermanagh SFC Final went to a replay following an 0-8 apiece draw.
Erne Gaels took the lead three times in the first half via Man of the Match Dan McCann (two) and Oisin Kelm, but on each occasion they were pegged back by Enniskillen via Conor Murphy, Ethan Beresford and Eoin Beacom.
Beacom found the target again to put his side ahead, but Erne Gaels led 0-5 to 0-4 at the break following scores from Ultan and Aogan Kelm.
Enniskillen started the second half brightly with three scores on the bounce from John Reihill, Callum Jones and Beresford.
Erne weren’t going away however, and two scores from Ultan Kelm either side of a McCann score had them back in front.
However, Enniskillen Gaels goalkeeper Ross Bogue nailed the last point of the game from a '45 and both sides will meet again next week in a replay.
