Paula Radcliffe to run in Bupa London 10,000 race

Radcliffe has her sights set on the 2012 Olympic Marathon in London

Paula Radcliffe will take part in the Bupa London 10,000 road race in the capital on 30 May.

The 10km run takes place on many of the roads that will make up the 2012 Olympic marathon course.

Radcliffe will end 18 months out of the sport in the Great Manchester Run on 15 May, her first outing since giving birth to her second child in September.

Mo Farah, who has twice broken the British 10km record at the event, will also run in London.

Radcliffe, 37, said: "I can't wait to be running in London again.

"Racing in London holds special memories for me and this event is a great opportunity to test myself against some good opposition and be competitive again over a shorter distance."

Race director David Bedford said: "It's great to have Britain's number one male and female distance runners with us.

"We are delighted to welcome Paula back to London after such a long absence and very much hope this race will be her first step on the road to Olympic success."

Radcliffe has been undergoing high-altitude training in Albuquerque, New Mexico, since mid-January.

She is expected to take part in a marathon later in the year, with a focus on attaining the qualifying standard for the London Olympics.

Radcliffe has held the world marathon record of two hours 15 minutes and 25 seconds since 2003. She is also the world road running 10km record holder with a time of 30 minutes and 21 seconds.
