Guernsey's Lee Merrien grabs gold in half marathon

Guernsey's Lee Merrien comfortably claimed the gold medal in the half marathon at the Island Games.

The Sarnian completed the 13.1 mile course in 1:08:36, with Kevin Loundes from the Isle of Man coming home second in 1:11:28.

Third place and the bronze medal went to Bermuda's Sean Trott, who came home in 1:12:22.

Guernsey's Michael Wilesmith finished fourth giving the Sarnian's a second gold in the team event.

In the women's team event, Jersey's Jo Gorrod, Arlene Lewis and Katie Thompson claimed the silver medal behind the Isle of Man.
